How it works

alt

At the beginning of the fall school semester, guidance counselors at our partner schools identify promising college bound juniors and sophomores. In November of the semester, the identified sophomores and juniors are invited to take our diagnostic SAT exam. Following this test, students are selected in consultation with the school. Key factors determining nomination are the students' diagnostic score which needs to be greater than a 800 combined score on the math and reading component, grades and transcript, attendance and behavior record.

Typically 15 juniors and 15 sophomores per school are chosen to participate in the program. The students must commit to the entire duration of the program.

Our program consists of 20 two-hour after school sessions running from January through June when the juniors take the SAT test. In the 2nd year the program comes 'full circle' when Sophomores graduate into becoming junior tutors.

Results

We are expecting results in June 2011 from two schools who have completed the full two year program. Three of our schools are in their first year and we will have their full results by June 2012.
